Abstract

Introduction: Preterm labor in adolescent pregnancy is a complex pregnancy complication that can lead to severe health consequences. Early assessment, close monitoring, and appropriate management are essential to reduce severity and prevent complications for both the mother and fetus. This condition requires comprehensive care and vigilant attention to minimize adverse outcomes in these young mothers and their unborn children.

Objective: To compare the outcomes of implementing the nursing process in caring for adolescent patients with preterm labor.

Methodology: A comparative case study was conducted on two adolescent patients with preterm labor. Data was collected from multiple sources including medical records, patient histories, physical examinations, laboratory results, and special investigations. The analysis compared the implementation of the five-step nursing process in both cases.

Results: The study revealed differences between the two cases in terms of risk factors and severity of complications. Following the implementation of nursing care using the nursing process, along with skilled assessment and complication monitoring, and proper medication administration, both patients achieved positive outcomes. These included immediate safety from current illness, successful adaptation to their new roles, and effective family planning.

Suggestions: Preterm labor in adolescents stems from multiple maternal and fetal causes, with complex abnormalities that can endanger both mother and fetus. It is essential to establish nursing care guidelines and ensure continuous care. A key nursing priority is the prevention of recurrent preterm labor. The development of comprehensive nursing protocols for these cases is crucial for optimal outcomes.
