Health Care Services Improvement for Patients with Diabe- tes Mellitus in Diabetes Mellitus Clinic of Khok Sri Primary Care Unit Khon Kaen Province

AbstractThe present study was conducted with the aims to investigate current health service. situation anddevelop the contextually appropriate health services for diabetic clinic clients at the Koksri primary care unit inKhon Kaen Province. Study participants were twenty diabetes clients, five community health care providers andtwo supporting unit officers from a primary care unit (PCU). Data were collected from clientsû medical records,focus group discussions of diabetic patients, and interviews of healthcare personnel. data were analyzed usingdescriptive statistics and content analysis. Results of the study revealed several problems related to the diabetichealth service at the Koksri primary care unit . Subsequently, the project team organized the following activities.1) Arrangement of adequate personnel job description was clearly defined. 2) Organization of a one-stop-service diabetic health service 3) Referral criteria for continuing care of diabetic patients were created to ensureappropriate coordination. 4) A home visit guideline and criteria were established by the centerûs health personnel and an interdisciplinary team. 5) Rearrangement of the center to create a specific area for the diabeticclinic. After the health services development, diabetic patients were satisfied with the quick, convenient,comprehensive and high quality services at the center. Healthcare providers secured a diabetic health serviceguideline .Lastly, health volunteers were satisfied with the health service participation.
