The Relationship Between Social Support and Nutri- tional Adaptation and Nutritional Status of Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

This descriptive research aimed to examine a nutritional status of CAPD patients, their acquirement ofsocial support, nutritional adaptation, and relationships between their social support and nutritional adaptation.Thesample group was 66 CAPD patients receiving treatment at Srinakarind Hospital. The research tools included arecord sheet for nutritional status and a questionnaire to elicit the patientsû nutritional adaptation and socialsupport.The obtained data were analyzed for Spearmanûs rank correlation coefficient. The results of the studyshowed that Social support had a negative correlation with cholesterol. (r = -0.2657, p = .0310). Socialsupport had a negative correlation with nutritional adaptation; this, however, was not statistically significantlydifferent (r = -0.0526, p = .06745).Downloads
