Nutritional status and consumption behaviors of working-age people in a semi-urban, semi-rural community

This descriptive research aimed to examine nutritional status and consumption behaviors of working-age people in a semi-urban, semi-rural community. Subjects consisted of 243 working-age people. The instruments included a demographic data form, a nutritional status assessment form, and a consumption behavior questionnaire. The data were analyzed through frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation distributions. The results showed that 77.8% of the subjects were overweight, 29.6% had BMI higher than a normal range, 55.5% had abdominal obesity, 59.3% had a high level of body fat composition, 40.8% had a high level of abdominal fat composition, and 48.1% looked overage. The subjects had a moderate level of consumption behaviors. The results indicated that working-age people have nutritional problems. Therefore, proper consumption behaviors should be promoted so that these people will be ready to enter the stage of aging in the future.
