Abstract

The clinical practice guideline to prevention risk foot ulcers in older person with type 2 diabetes mellitus was developed based on Soukup’s framework of nursing knowledge utilization. This study tested effcacy of the 3-phase clinical practice guideline that covered 4 sub-guidelines including; 1) guideline for assessment risk foot 2) guideline for foot examination risk foot, 3) guidelines for foot education program 4) guideline for monitoring patients’ signs and symptoms. Ten older person with type 2 diabetes mellitus volunteered to participate in feasibity testing of the developed guideline. Result shows that their knowledge and practice with the CPG as the “highest” and “higher” levels. However, all of the volunteers highly satisfed with the use of practice guideline. The healthcare team involved in diabetes mellitus clinic agreed that the newly developed guideline could be implemented in the clinical setting.
