Abstract

Enhancing pregnant women’s confidence for natural childbirth is the important strategy and midwives’ role to reduce cesarean section rate. This article, presented the concepts and theories relating to enhance maternal confidence for natural childbirth perspectives include the Self –efficacy theory, King’s theory of goal attainment, empowerment concept, social support concept and self-management concept, which will help midwives to clarify and to understand the phenomenon of childbirth and to promote the confidence for natural childbirth. Moreover, this will help midwives to assess pregnant women undertake through research and applied practices properly.
