Abstract

This quasi-experimental research examined the effects of the effects of sexual risk behavior prevention program on sexual abstinence intention among 6th graders from 3 schools. Subjects were 151 students, 65 were in the control group and 86 were in the experimental group.  The program consisted of learning activities using teaching media “ Birthday Box” though group activities such as game, brain storming, group discussion and participation of teachers and parents. The program emphasized on developing positive attitude, perceived social norm, and perceive behavioral control for sexual abstinent during school years  based of Theory of Planned Behavior by Ajzen. Using ANOVA test, the results reveals that before the experiment, both the control and experimental groups did not have significant sexual abstinent intention,. However, the experiment group showed a significant higher score than the control group post to the experiment. It is recommended to expand the use of the program in other schools and study the longitudinal effects of the program.
