Development of Care System for Dependent Older Adults in Community

Abstract

This participatory action research aimed to develop care system for dependent older adults in community. The concept of long term care was used as conceptual framework. This participations were older people, care for the older adult at home volunteers, community’s leader and health care professional. Data were obtained through participatory observations, in-depth interviews, focus group discussion, and document analysis, during February 2013 to May 2014. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequencies and percentages. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis method. Results revealed the care system for dependent older adults was developed, which included of 1) older adults database system at community level 2) home visit by care for the older adults at home volunteers. 3) The Sub-district Administrative Organization plan on the dependent older adults and 4) community fund for the older adults.
