การพัฒนาแนวทางการเสริมสร้างศักยภาพอาสาสมัครสาธารณสุขประจำหมู่บ้าน ในการดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคความดันโลหิตสูง Competency Enhancement of Village Health Volunteers in Caring Hypertensive Patients

บทคัดย่อ

This qualitative study aimed to 1) investigate needs and problems of hypertensive patients and caregivers and 2) develop the plans for caring hypertensive patients in community and enhancing competency of village health volunteers in caring those patients.  The research participants consisted of 15 patients, 15 caregivers, 28 village health volunteers, 16 core community leaders and 6 health care providers.  Data collection was in-depth interview, focus group, observation, and reviewing secondary data.  Content analysis was performed for qualitative data. The results showed that the patients were lack of knowledge and awareness related to their health, had inappropriate self-care behavior and still had many obstacles to access to medical services.  The village health volunteers had insufficient knowledge and skills in caring the patients in their communities.  In addition, they had no care planning, data recording and patients transferring.  Therefore, the resolutions towards patient care should emphasize knowledge building for both patients and people in the communities, establish hypertensive clinic of Tambon Health Promoting Hospital, and develop home visiting system.  The village health volunteers’ knowledge should be enhanced through learning by doing process.  Furthermore, they should have the opportunity to participate in designing their own plan for enhancing the competency according to their needs and developing hypertensive patient care system in community.
