The aim of this descriptive study was to investigate sense of coherence among patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Data for the present analyses were obtained from interviews of 174 of patients with COPD by using a sense of coherence interview scale with reliability of .89. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.
The results showed that patients with COPD have the overall mean sense of coherence total score was high level (x̄ = 148.48, SD = 15.09, Rang = 101-176) and found that the mean score classified by an element of sense of coherence all the three aspects: the comprehensibility, the manageability and the meaningfulness averaged 51.94 (SD = 5.61, Rang = 33-64), 53.47 (SD = 6.16, Rang = 30-79) and 43.07 (SD = 5.57, Rang = 21-54), respectively.
