Nutrition knowledge, attitudes, and practices of childcare teachers and assistants in early childhood development centers: A study in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

A descriptive research aims to study knowledge, attitude, and practice of child care teachers and assistant teachers in nutrition aspect, according to the National Standard for Early Childhood Care, Development and Education Thailand in the child development centers under the Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Muang District, Khon Kaen Province. The sample, of 52 people, was selected according to the purposive qualifications. Data were collected using online questionnaires on knowledge, attitude and practice via google form, which developed based on the National Standard for Early Childhood Care, Development and Education Thailand 2019, and Knowledge, Attitude, Practice, of Launiala’s concept. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.

The results found that 90.4 % of child care teachers and assistant teachers in the child development centers had nutrition knowledge scores at high levels and 9.6% had the scores at moderate levels. Majority of them (75.0%) had attitude scores at moderate levels, whereas the rest 25.0 % had the scores at high levels. Most (92.3 %) had practice score at high levels and the rest 7.7% had the scores at moderate levels. The research findings indicated the essential for enhancement of knowledge, attitude and practice in nutrition aspect of child care teachers and assistant teachers in the child development centers.
