The development of exercise behavior among the elderly by empowerment process at Ban Yong Yang, Nongraviang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Abstract

This research is the action research. The objective of this research was to develop exercise behavior among the elderly by empowerment process. The susman’ s empowerment process consisted of 5 steps as follow, first: the diagnosis of the elderly ’s health problems, second : the action planning, third : the practical experiences in doing exercise, fourth the evaluation of the exercise and fifth : the improvement of learning results. The sample consists of 35 elderly people and the informants consist of 17 persons. The tools used for data collection were  exercise behavior questionnaire and focus group discussion guideline. The statistics used were mean, percentage, standard deviation, frequency distribution and paired t-test.

              The results showed  that after the elderly people took part in these processes, they have more knowledge about the exercise, awareness about the exercise, perceived self efficacy, and exercise behavior higher than before with the statistical significance of .05.
