Nurses ‘opinions on the training curriculum based on the empowerment and gender sensitive counseling

Evidences showed that gender inequality is related to depression in women. Health personals should have knowledge in regard to gender. This descriptive research aimed to describe opinions of nurses who attended empowerment counseling with gender sensitive training toward the training curriculum. Focus group was used for data collection. Data were analyzed by content analysis. The results showed four themes including 1) gender is related to causes of depression 2) counselors’ should have an awareness of the internalization and non-judgmental approach 3) goals of counseling: empowerment and reconstruction 4) awareness of significance of empowerment counseling technique. Department of Mental Health can use this curriculum for mental health personals on capacity building in gender.
