This study aimed to determine risk factors that predict malnutrition in admitted patients at accidental and emergency ward 4 (AE4), Srinagarind hospital, Faculty of medicine, Khon Kaen University. This is a retrospective study, the data was collected from adult malnutrition screening form which was use in AE4 between April to June 2012, total of 182 patients.This study analyzed data by using logistic regression analysis to calculate determine risk factors predict malnutrition. The results showed factors that predict malnutrition in admitted patients of AE4 ward, Srinagarind hospital, Faculty of medicine, Khon Kaen University were body mass index (BMI) ≤18.5 kg/m2, odd ratio was 24.85 which was statistically significant (p-value <0.001), second factor was decreasing of food consumption in the past week, odd ratio was 8.64, p-value <0.001, third factor was 1-kg weight loss in the past week, odd ratio was 5.36, p-value <0.001, the last factor was severe illness, odd ratio was 3.50, p-value was 0.012. The equation was conducted from this study. Percentage correct for predicting malnutrition was 86.3%.Downloads
