The purpose of this study was to examine the perception of student nurses and teachers concerning the integration of health promotion concepts in teaching of nursing subjects both theory and practicum subjects. The study utilized mixed method research design using focus group interview and questionnaire. A total of 475 student nurses and 28 teachers (academic year of 2009) participated in the study. The findings showed that the model of integration of health promotion in teaching of nursing subjects included incorporating health promotion in school philosophy, addressing health promotion in curriculum objectives, specifying health promotion in course description, and integrating health promotion in teaching and learning of nursing subjects by teachers. The teaching and learning process supporting the integration of health promotion knowledge are crucial to the development of health promotion competency of student nurses.Downloads
