Abstract

Family nurses play essential roles to the care of families in health and illness. Therefore, this document analysis aimed to examine the evidence of the family nursing intervention in Thailand during 2002 to 2011. Instrument used was the screening and recording format, which was developed according to the Garrard’s Matrix method and inclusive study documents were selected according to the study criteria. Results showed that a total of 187related documents were input and 38 documents were relevant. Some specified more than one kind ofintervention in a study. A total of eight intervention categories characterized the intervention with families as family involvement for the first rank. The second most common type of intervention was family education, followed by professional support, family conference, psychological support, redefining roles, family counselling or therapy, and role modelling respectively. It was found that the concept of gender was adopted into study 2.6%. These findings will contribute to further family nursing knowledge development in the future.
