ความเครียดและภาวะซึมเศร้าของเกย์กะเทยไทย Stress and Depression among Thai Gay, Kathoey (Transgender)

This study was conducted to assess the stress, depression and stress coping strategies of Thai gay and kathoey. Participants were 113 gay and 57 kathoey from all four regions of Thailand. Data collection took place between May 2010 – January 2011. Stress level was measured using SPST-20 (Suanprung Stress Test -20) and the 9Q questionnaire was use to assess depression. Results showed that Thai gay and kathoey had high stress levels with an average stress score of 48.18. On the other hand, the depression level was mild ( = 7.24, S.D= 3.99). Health providers should be aware and sensitive of these inherent mental health issues and Thai gay and kathoey.Downloads
