Abstract

This study was examined the results of knowledge translation of The KKU Family Health Nursing Model (KKU FHN) toward prevention, caring, and rehabilitation of patients with their families in 5 areas by using quasi-experimental research. There were two types of participants, including 166 trained family health leaders, and 344 family representatives being campaigned within the areas. The researchers engaged in building trained participants’ capacities by training as well as doing action planning as guided by the model. The results of quantitative and qualitative data revealed as followings. 1) After participatory training according to the model, ‘the family health leaders’ knowledge and attitude of prevention, caring, and rehabilitation of stroke patients with their families were statistically significantly higher than those before doing so in five areas (p < 0,001, Dependent paired t - test). 2) After implementing the KKU FHN model, ‘the family representatives’ knowledge and attitude of prevention, caring and rehabilitation of stroke patients with their families were statistically significantly higher than those before implementing the model in five areas (p < 0,001, Dependent paired t-test). 3) The qualitative data revealed positive situational changing of health promotion practices amongst the villagers in the intervention areas. In summary, there were 166 family health leaders who were empowered to take action for people health promotion, prevention, caring, and rehabilitation of stroke patients with their families. Recommendations were made that “the KKU FHN Model” could be used as intervention guideline to health promotion, prevention, caring, and rehabilitation of stroke patients.
