Abstract

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major health problems throughout the world. The purposes of this study were (1) to compare health-related quality of life (HRQOL) between younger and older adults with CVD and (2) to compare HRQOL among patients with three types of CVD (hypertension: HT vs. coronary heart disease: CHD vs. heart failure: (HF). The sample group consisted of 258 patients with CVD who came for follow up treatments at a cardiovascular clinic in a provincial hospital.  SF-36 V2was used to measure HRQOL. Data was analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The results of the study showed thatolder adults with CVD had lower HRQOL than those of younger adults with CVD. HF patients had lower HRQOL than those of patients with CHD and HT. Nurses should create intervention programs for improving HRQOL and preventing low HRQOL for patient with HT, CHD, and HF.
