Abstract

DM type II illness is usually caused by improper lifestyle. Especially, family with the illness person who did not modify their own living style, it will allow him/her controlling disease ineffectively and also impacting on family member to get illness from diabetic. Therefore, lifestyle modification both illness person and family are necessary and conduct simultaneously. The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of lifestyle modification program on health care behaviors among DM type II clients and families. The sample was simple randomization that consisted of 10 DM type II clients and 10 adults of their family members. The program comprised of 2 phases; first, participatory learning activity for increasing knowledge and motivation through video media, hand book, warning stickers. Second phase, home visit was conducted two times and evaluation after the program by structure interview. Data analysis was done by using descriptive statistic and paired t-test. The results revealed that the mean score of health care behavior in terms of knowledge, attitude and practice among DM type II clients and families before and after intervention were statistic significant difference (p<0.05).
