Abstract
This quasi - experimental research two group pre - post test aimed to study the effect of educative supportive program using VCD and handbook on caregivers’ caring behaviors for school age epilepsy. The sample was 90 caregivers at outpatient pediatric services, Khon Kaen Hospital. They were 45 of the control group and 45 of the experimental group. The research instruments were a record of personal information and an interview about caring behavior using the model of Orem’s self-care. The reliability of the interview was calculated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and it was at .73. The data were analyzed using the percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test. Results showed the experimental group’s mean score of caring behaviors was significantly higher than those in the control group (t =-12.03, p < 0.05) and mean score of caring behaviors after intervention was significantly higher than before intervention. (t = -8.32, p < 0.05).
