This study was qualitative descriptive research that aimed to explore nursing students’ perspectives based on their experiences in preparing for the examination for registration and licensure as a professional nurse and midwife. The participants were fourth-year nursing students from Kuakarun Faculty of Nursing who voluntarily took part in the study. The participants were selected through purposive sampling, with a total of 20 students. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, audio recordings, and field notes. The recorded data were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using thematic analysis.
The research findings revealed three main themes: 1) Perceptions of the results of the national licensure examination for registered nurses and midwives. 2) The feeling on the national licensure examination for registered nurses and midwives. 3) The strategies for preparation for the examination. The study provides insights into nursing students’ views on test preparation, based on their experiences with the registration and licensing exams for professional nurses and midwives. The results will guide the development of activities designed to assist students in preparing for examinations, reduce stress, and improve their quality of life, eventually facilitating their transition into competent and professional nurses.
