ภาวะบีบเกร็งของหลอดเลือดสมอง เป็นภาวะแทรกซ้อนที่พบได้บ่อยภายหลังการเกิดเลือดออกใต้ชั้นเยื่อหุ้มสมองชั้นกลางและเป็นสาเหตุสำคัญในการเกิดสมองขาดเลือดและเนื้อสมองตายตามมาซึ่งจะทำให้เกิดความทุพลภาพและเพิ่มอัตราการเสียชีวิต การใช้การตรวจหลอดเลือดสมองด้วยเครื่อง ตรวจคลื่นเสียงความถี่สูงผ่านกะโหลกศีรษะจะทำให้สามารถตรวจติดตาม เฝ้าระวังและให้การตรวจเพิ่มเติมร่วมกับการรักษาได้อย่างทันท่วงที
