Learning Outcome and Satisfaction of Nursing Students on the Student-centered Teaching in Nursing Informatics Class of McCormick Faculty of Nursing, Payap University

Abstract

This survey research aims to study the learning outcomes (LO) and satisfaction of nursing students regarding the student-centered teaching of Nursing Informatics of McCormick Faculty of Nursing, Payap University, 2nd semester of academic year 2016. The simple random samplings of samples comprised 92 the second-year nursing students in this course which calculated based on Yamane. Research Instruments for data collection included 1) a general information; 2) a learning outcomes (LO) of the learner’s evaluation form in four aspects, namely: 1. moral and ethical, 2. knowledge, 3. skills of interpersonal and responsibility, and 4. skills of numerical analysis, communication and the use of information technology; and 3) a satisfaction of learning and teaching of learner centered questionnaire. The statistics for data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.

The results showed that 92 samples were mostly female (95.7%), using computers 2-4 hours per day (42.2%). The most common use of computer was Microsoft Word (92.4%). Half of  them 50% had the knowledge of basic computer software at a high level. The overall mean scores of all aspects of LO were at a high level. The mean scores of satisfaction in teaching and of learner centered were also at a high level.
