Effectiveness of the Training Program on Rabies Knowledge among Secondary Education Students under the PRBR Model Concept

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research with the two-group pretest-posttest design aimed to study the effectiveness of the training program on rabies knowledge among secondary education students under the PRBR model concept. The study involved 60 secondary education students, equally assigned to experimental and control groups based on simple random sampling without replacement. The experimental group participated in the training program on rabies knowledge among secondary education students under the Praboromarajchanok Institute model (PRBR model) concept, whereas the control group was free of the intervention program. Data were collected using a questionnaire and then analyzed using frequency distribution, percentage, chi-square test, and Mann-Whitney U-test. The results revealed that before the training program, the experimental and control group’s knowledge of rabies was significantly different at 0.001 (p<0.001). However, after the training programs, the experimental group’s knowledge of rabies was higher than before the training programs, and the control group was significantly different at 0.001 (p<0.001). The findings indicate that the training program on rabies knowledge among secondary education students under the PRBR model concept could increase the knowledge of rabies. The training programs should be employed to cover all targeted groups and applied in other areas appropriately.
