The Development of Disease and Health Hazards Surveillance System in Prisons, Roi Et Province

Abstract

          The objective of this action research was to developed of disease and health hazards surveillance system in prisons, Roi Et province. The operational target group consisted including 1) The personnel responsible for disease and health hazards surveillance from Roi Et prison, Roi Et hospital, Roi Et provincial public health office and the office of disease prevention and control, Region7 Khon Kaen 2) warden and prisoner in prisons, Roi Et province. The study was divided into 3 phases, phase1; situation analysis, phase2; implementation with 4 steps PAOR namely planning action observation and reflecting, phase3; summarize and results evaluation. The data collection applied with questionnaires, interviews, observations and group discussions. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and content analysis. The results revealed that conducts DISC&M strategy to developed of disease and health hazards surveillance system in prisons, Roi Et province where D; database were collected data with HOSxP program, online to send to the data of health service center in Roi Et hospital and transferred to surveillance system R506, I: Integrate with prepare data reporting flow for working together with network partners guideline, S: Screening,C: Competency with potential development of prison officers and prisoner’s agent, M: Monitoring and evaluation in every process. The satisfaction survey results coverage 100% of health officers prisons officers and prisoners. Data reporting into surveillance system were 95.0% completed, 98.3% of timeliness, 100% be able to outbreak response within 24 hours and reduce the cost of outbreak control with 92.9%. Expanded the performance to all prisons in the 7^th health zone and expanded to the office of disease prevention and control 3, Nakhon Sawan province.
