Experience and Therapeutic Acupuncture Outcomes for Stroke Patients on the Rehabilitation Period in a Hospital

This qualitative research design aimed to study the experience of receiving treatment with acupuncture in rehabilitation stroke patients and the effects of acupuncture treatment of rehabilitation stroke patients on the perspective of patients. Data were collected after the program of the acupuncture treatment in rehabilitation stroke patients through in-depth interviews and group discussions from 10 stroke patients and 10 their caregivers.
The finding found that the experience of selection of acupuncture therapy in rehabilitation stroke patients on the perspective of the patient who received at least 20 consecutive acupuncture therapy caused by 4 behaviors: attitude, belief, trust and understanding in the therapy. The effects obtained from acupuncture treatment included ability to perform daily activities and satisfaction in receiving treatment with acupuncture that consisted of five aspects: impressive service, health promotion, friendly service by health personnel, information, news, and location, equipment, and modern tools.
So, the experience of selection and therapeutic acupuncture outcomes for stroke patients could build confidentiality to better perform daily activities on the rehabilitation period. It should be used as a guideline for further development of acupuncture service system for rehabilitation stroke patients.
