Abstract

This  research  was qua-si experimental. The purposes were study knowledge level and practice level of participatory learning to elderly’s health self-care promotion. The experimental  group consisted of 45 cases of study obtained from elderly in Nongbuakhok  Sub-district,  Chatturat  District,  Chaiyaphum  Province.  Collect the data by qualitative and quantitative method. The developed interview was used as a tool to collect employed quantitative data. The content validity was improved and adjusted by the suggestion of the experts. Using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and KR-20 tested the reliability of the assessment tools; were 0.81 practice level of participatory learning and  knowledge 0.77 level. Data analysis was done by computer program. Statistics were to acquire percentage, means, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, paired t-test and  qualitative data used content analysis. 

                 After  intervention the result revealed that: process of participatory learning to elderly’s health   self-care  promotion from the program participatory learning to elderly’s all 5 health   self-care   promotion  factors;  the give counsel of mental health, oral  hygiene and disease  preventionphysical  activity, general  health self-care and  diet  and nutrition  found that;  knowledge level of  participatory learning to elderly’s health self-care  promotion before the receiving  the participatory learning  were mean score 21.24 (S.D.=1.57), the knowledge level of the experimental group, after receiving the participatory learning were higher than the pre-test   mean score  25.11 (S.D.=2.82), statistically significant difference (t=11.73, p<0.001). The practice level of participatory learning to elderly’s health promotion self-care before receiving the participatory learning  were  mean score  36.67 (S.D.=6.02) the practice level of participatory learning  of the experimental group, after receiving the participatory learning were higher   than the pre-test  mean score 42.93 (S.D.=3.75), statistically significant difference (t =13.22 , p<0.001).  

                 In conclusion: This research  indicate  the knowledge and  practice  level may  use  participatory  learning  as  a guide  to  increase  health self-care  promotion in  elderly.  Also, this research shown  that  elderly  who  participatory learning had  better the knowledge  and  health self-care  promotion. Also,  found  that  the participatory learning to elderly’s health  self-care  promotion  in  this study effect to model of elderly’s health self-care promotion from context  each  area  follow  the need of elderly’s should change from model of health service.  Also, the  participatory of all organization that relate, the elderly had important with elderly’s health  self-care  promotion.
