The Evaluation of Training the CHAMPION Program Applied By Kirkpatrick Approach

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of training program for comprehensive andprevention HIV among MARPs by promoting integrated outreach and networking to develop the standards ofworking in sexual transmitted infections or the CHAMPION program in two levels, frst in response of the traineeand second in learning potential of the trainee. Thirty fve samples consist of technical offcer, nurse and nongovernment organization. Data collection by questionnaire and data analysis by descriptive statistics and paired t-test to compare score knowledge before and after training. Qualitative data analyzed by content analysis to classifydata from open-ended questions as suggestions for improvement the program.The result revealed that most of the trainees were government offcer and female. The highest education level was bachelor’s degree. The mean age was 41.53, standard deviation 8.31. Most of the samples satisfed in the training program’s content, Lecturer/ technical training and contributing factors for the training program in the
high and highest level. For learning evaluation, the score of knowledge and standard deviation before training were15.71 and 2.57 and after training were 25.02 and 1.79. The difference of scores before and after training was 9.31 (95% CI: 8.17 to 10.45) and the cognition score before and after training were signifcantly different at the statistical level of 0.05 (P-value <0.001). The results of responsive evaluation and learning effectiveness were in the high and highest levels from the CHAMPION training program, so the program should be followed up the changing from training program in every cycle from Kirkpatrick model by evaluating behavior and outcomes.
