Factors Influenced with Self-care Behaviors in Type II Diabetes Mellitus Patients in Nongbuarawae District, Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

This study was a cross-sectional analytical research. The objectives were to identify the factors that can forecast self-care behaviors among type II diabetes mellitus patients.  The subjects group consisted of 301 cases of study obtained from type II diabetes mellitus patients in Nongbuarawae District Chaiyaphum Province by Multi-stage random sampling.  The developed questionnaries was used as a tool to collect employed quantitative data. The content validity was improved and adjusted by the suggestion of the experts. Using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient tested the reliability of the assessment tools; perceived health were 0.80 level and self-care behaviors 0.79 level. Data analysis was done by computer program. Statistics were to acquire frequencies, percentage, means, standard deviation, minimum, maximum and stepwise multiple regression analysis for statistically significant  at 0.05 level.

           The result revealed that: perceived health level, self-care behaviors level in type II diabetes mellitus patients at the moderate level. As a result, the factors that significantly influenced their performance were perceived health about perceived benefits of follow-up from guidance technicians (X1), perceived severity of type II diabetes mellitus (X2), net income (X3) and fasting blood sugar (X4) about predicts with self-care behaviors level  in type II diabetes mellitus patients (F=13.962, p-value<0.001). Follow the equation was ŷ = 0.284 + 0.348 (X1) + 0.260 (X2) +     0.118 (X3) + 0.137 (X4). The accurate for predict was 25.4% (R2=0.254).

           In summary, the organization that relate should change self-care behaviors level in type II diabetes mellitus patients for the better, focusing on suitably model of leaning  processes in type II diabetes mellitus patients.
