Abstract

This research aimed to study the monk's recent conditions and requirement about the health care in Khon Kaen province and to study the development of a model of monk's holistic health care in Khon Kaen province.  

          A result of this research was found that most of the monk's recent conditions and requirement was ill with gastric disorders. The other diseases were high blood pressure, backache, high cholesterol and arthritis. When monks were ill, most of them bought medicine and took it. Some monks went to see a doctor at a private clinic and a hospital. All monks who got right to be cured freely according to the universal health care coverage. There was 31.88 percent of monks who did get any right. There were a few monks who got the life insurance. Behavior of the monk's holistic health care was found that some monks lacked knowledge about the holistic health care in various dimensions, especially to take food which risked their lives about non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. The monk's health requirement was found that most of monks wanted the first aid room at the temple and there was an officer to take care of them when they got ill. They also wanted the Sub-district Administration Organization to support them about a budget for taking medicine and organizing the development activities. They wanted to be checked up yearly. When the old monks were ill, they want the officer of the public health to visit them at the temple continuously. Finally, they wanted the Sangha to hold the meeting every three months.     

          The development of a model of the monk's holistic health care in Khon Kaen Province through the network participation was integrated according to a concept of the holistic health care in Buddhism and the heal care in the Ministry of Public Health with studying the conditions of the monks' recent problems and requirement of health care through a practical process of participation in order to develop a model of the monk's holistic health care in Khon Kaen province through the network participation.  According to the Public Health's health care, there were four aspects: promotion, protection, treatment and rehabilitation. All of them were in the holistic health care. There was the duty given to the network to run a project. A result of this work covered various ways of health service appropriate with the monkshood by resolving the monk's problems and adding things for their requirement. After running the research project about six months, the assessment of the monk's holistic health behavior was found that there was the additional marks in all aspects.
