Motivation Affecting the Service System Quality Development towards Hospital Accreditation of the Pharmacists at Community Hospitals in Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

This cross-sectional descriptive research was aimed to explore the relationship of the motivation of the pharmacists and their performance on the service system quality development towards hospital accreditation in community hospitals in Chaiyaphum province. The study used the questionnaire as a tool, covered the population of 60 pharmacists working at community hospitals. Data, collected in December 2011, was analyzed by using the computer program for descriptive statistics, Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation coefficients and step-wised multiple Regression. The results found that majority of the pharmacists was female  with average age of 31.5 years, single, monthly income of 30,526.50 Baht and had 7.3 years of working experience at community hospital. Their motivation was found at high level.  Also, their performance on the service system quality development gearing towards hospital accreditation at pharmacy unit was found hat high level. The pharmacists’ motivation had positively strong relationship with the performance (r = 0.765, p value < .001). The responsibility variable and the acceptance variable, moreover, had positively strong relationship with the performance (r = 0.771, r = 0.716, p value < .001, respectively). The responsibility variable together with the supportive policy and management variable could predict their performance for 65.9%.
