Abstract

Objective  To study the characteristics of those infected with HIV and AIDS. Office of Disease Prevention and Control in the sixth province since 2551-2555.

          Methods  How descriptive study was performed during the year 2551-2555. Using secondary data (Secondary data) infected with HIV and AIDS. From the management of infectious HIV/AIDS program (NAP) of the National Health Security Office (NHSO). How to collect data Made by the retrieval of the required variables from electronic file database to store the data file The target People infected with HIV and AIDS patients admitted in the NAP in the Office of Disease Prevention and Control in the area consists of nine provinces including 6 Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Roi Et, Maha Sarakham, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Loei, Udon Thani and Bueng Kan. Analyzed using Epi Info Version 3.5.4. Descriptive statistics were used Presented with the number mean and the rate per hundred thousand population

          Results   Samples from a total of 21,460 cases were male percentage 55.70 (95% CI = 55.03-56.37) mainly adult patients of 97.21 (95% CI = 96.98-97.43) in the age group 31-45 percent. 54.60 (95% CI = 53.96-55.29) the average age of 34.76 years. The rate of infection with HIV and AIDS, the highest in the year 2551 was 64.62 per thousand population. Age groups with high rates of HIV infection, asymptomatic stage. Long-term symptoms and most are 30-34 years of full blown AIDS. Deaths from AIDS Most of the year 2555 5.89 percent of infected marital status, most of 56.60 (95% CI = 55.87-57.33) also found that the majority of those infected are not receiving antiretroviral therapy before. percentage 95.32 (95% CI = 95.03-95.60). Infections are asymptomatic, most of 51.34 (95% CI = 50.67-52.01) and have never been opportunistic infections of 80.34 (95% CI = 79.80-80.87).

          Conclusions  The results found that the rate of people infected with HIV and AIDS prevention and control of office space on the sixth province decreased from year 2551 to year 2554 continued. Then increased slightly in 2555 and found that the death rate has increased and decreased in the year 2553, and increased again until the year 2555. Age group is the most common infection among working age. One of these had received antiretroviral therapy and opportunistic infections had the disease. The results of such studies, reflecting the trend of new HIV infections and patient death may be increased. However, there should be measures and guidelines to encourage people infected with HIV to be treated quickly. To reduce mortality and to promote a better quality of life.
