Abstract

The study was aimed at investigating effects of the health behavior program for preventing foot complications in patients with type 2 diabetes admitted to Ban Dong KhwangTambon Health Promotion Hospital, MuangNakhonPhanom, NakhonPhanom province. There were totally 60 samples categorized into 2 groups each of which consisted of 30 people: the experimental and the control groups. The duration of the procedure was 12 weeks. The experimental group received the program related to patients’ risks of severe illness. Pre- and post- questionnaires were employed in data collection. The data were analyzed using software. Descriptive statistics was used in general data analysis. Inferential statistic was used for comparing differences in average scores was based on the paired sample t-test for each group and the independent sample t-test between the groups sig. Level at 0.05 and the quantitative data was used content analysis. The study results demonstrated that after program experimenting, the average scores of diabetes knowledge and realization about effects of the health belief model on behaviors in preventing foot complications in the experimental group were higher than before and then those in the control group, which were statistically significant with P values less than 0.05. Overall, there was a factor of achievement in the research that the health behavior promotion program for preventing foot complications in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 helped sharing experiences and continuously following up with home visits, resulting in behavior changes in patients to prevent foot complications better.
