The occurrence of gonorrhea infected patients at sexual transmitted disease clinic in Loei Hospital (2013-2015)

Abstract

The aims of this study was to the occurrence of gonorrhea infected patients at sexual transmitted disease clinic in Loei Hospital (2013-2015) was to study prevalence of gonorrhea and the epidemiology of the disease could also indicate prevalence of AIDS in this area. A descriptive study was a tertiary data of OPD cards (Code A54) from 1^st October 2013 to 30^th September 2015; this data was analyzed and compared in 2013, 2014, and 2015 respectively.

The results showed the prevalence of gonorrhea patients from 2013 to 2015 was 324, increased from 18.2% to 22.3% and 32.8% respectively. Most of the patients were male aged lower than 21 years (16.2%;18.4%; and 24.6%) and work as employee (9.1%; 8.7%; and 13.1%) respectively. Trend of patients who were students was increased from 2013 to 2015 (3.0% in 2013, 10.7% in 2014, and 13.9% in 2015) respectively.

From the increasing trend of gonorrhea infection, the government should concern about the assessment of condom, awareness of sexual transmitted diseases (STD) in all organizations, companies, and schools to decrease STD risk behavior.
