Abstract

The research was descriptive cross-sectional study to rate the intensity of Illumination in selected empty classrooms compared to the standard International Commission on Illumination: CIE, to study the physical characteristics of the classroom that affect the students sense of sight and to study the sense of sight of student by cluster random sampling. Measuring and to rate the intensity of Illumination in the classroom in primary school, March 2016 two courses (English program, Thai program) 3 classroom, there are 121 points of Illumination. The data collection consisted of recording the measurement of intensity of light spot measurement using a light meter (Lux meter) and questionnaires to the student. Then, data is analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.


The study found that the classroom in English program, capacity 69 total points through the standard CIE (300-750 Lux) were 8.70%. The classroom in Thai program, capacity 52 points through the CIE standard number were 57.69% physical characteristics of classroom in, English program instigate the feeling of sight fatigue, visual symptoms were 63.08% (95%CI= 51.0-70.5) classroom course Thai program, visual symptoms were 13.46% (95%CI= 3.9-23.1)


The study found that English program classroom had more intensity of Illumination than Thai Program classroom. Student feels more fatigue than Thai program. Consequently, the classroom in English program should increase the lamps and adjust the position of lamps to match the tables. The classroom should open curtains to let natural light shine through or use a translucent curtain. This will improve the classroom intensity of Illumination.
