The empowerment for the role of health management on themselves among village health volunteer at Bupueai sub-district, Namyuen district Ubonratchatani province

บทคัดย่อ

This study is a quasi-experimental study and aims to investigate the empowerment affecting roles of health managers of the village health volunteers (VHV) at Bupueai sub-district, Namyuen district, Ubon Ratchathani province. The samples were 80 village health volunteers. They were divided into two groups: an experimental and control groups, 40 samples in each group. The experimental group was treated with health education programs that included activities for the group’s meetings, camping to boost the potential in the roles of the health managers, providing knowledge about the roles of the health managers of the VHV by using models, power points, and videos.

          The control group was treated with knowledge in the regular forms provided by the Ministry of Health Department. Data were collected by questionnaires and observation records.  The data of the general information were analyzed by percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation, minimum, maximum, and median value. The inferential statistics, the Student's t-test and Paired samples t-test were used to compare the difference between groups and within groups. The Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient was used to find the relationship between knowledge and understanding in the roles of VHV as the health managers who learned about chronic diseases in the community and attitudes affecting behavior changes based on the 3 Aor 2 Sor” Project, with the rules regarding participation in the village/sub-district health management.

The results indicated that the average score of the experimental group on the knowledge and understanding in the roles of VHV as the health managers who learned about chronic diseases in the community and attitudes affecting behavior changes based on the 3 Aor 2 Sor” Project and the implementation in participating in village and sub district health management after doing the experiment was higher than before  doing the experiment and also higher than the control group with .05 statistical significance.   The findings showed that 1) the knowledge and understanding in VHV as the health managers base on  the 3 Aor 2 Sor” Project and the transferring knowledge of the village health managers had no relationship with the implementation in participating in  the village / district health management,  2) the understanding  about chronic diseases in the community had relationship with the implementation in participating in the village/sub-district health management with P-value < .05, and 3) the attitudes affecting behavior changes based on the 3 Aor 2 Sor” Project had no relationship with  the implementation in participating in the village/sub-district health management.
