Development of practice guideline for community based treatment and rehabilitation in Thong Saen Khan district, Uttaradit province

Abstract

Participation Action Research (PAR) has objectives 1) to develop the drug user community based treatment and rehabilitation (CBTx) guideline in Thong Saen Khan district to be used in solving drug problems in the area. 2) To evaluate the implementation of the drug user CBTx guideline in the area. The study was divided into 6 phases: 1. Study the situation and context of drug correction and treatment. 2. Develop the guideline by using participative action research. 3. Apply the drug user CBTx guideline in the pilot area. 4. Evaluate and summarize the results of the implementation in the pilot area. 5. Apply the drug user CBTx guideline in the operation area. 6. Conclusion, evaluation and discussion. The sample group was the committee and working group on drug user CBTx, Thong Saen Khan district, Year 2021, 44 people and 8 drug users. 5 people in the pilot area: Village No. 7, Pa Khai sub district, and 3 people in the operation area: Village No. 5, Nam Phi sub district, Village No. 1, Bo Thong sub district, and Village No. 4, Phak Khuang sub district, 1 person per area.

The results showed that 1) the committee and working group work on the drug user CBTx guideline and network partners has the connection of information and services within the network at all levels. 2) The treatment and rehabilitation activities were performed 9 times in 9 weeks and the drug users were able to stop taking drugs. (amphetamine and marijuana) in 7 out of 8, accounting for 87.50 percent.
