Preparation for Aging of Health Personnel in Loei Province

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to described the situation  of preparation for aging of health personnel in Loei province. Cross-Sectional Descriptive Study was used. Data were collected by questionnaires in the 294 samples of personnels which has aged 45 years and over in all districts of  Loei province. This study was operated during November 2018 - January 2019.  The results of the study showed that, the samples have good health behaviors. Sample groups with different positions was statistically significant difference (p-value <.05) in health behaviors ; controlling or limiting food intake, exercise, both aerobic and fitness type and enhance muscle mass. Half of the respondents have at least one form of savings, 82.23% have their own homes, 90% of the sample focusing on safety and encouraging living in the elderly and 68.84% had caregivers prepared which has a statistical relationship with the age of the sample. The samples accepted the old age at a good level which males had a higher average acceptance rate of aging than females and there was a statistically significant difference (p-value <.05). In the social preparation found that 76.92% of samples had social preparedness to live after retirement. But found that 34.44% of males do not have this preparation and 85.01% of samples have to prepare or plan about the work or activities to do after retirement. The results of this study suggest that, the issue that should be emphasized in promoting the readiness to the elderly of health personnel in Loei province is the promotion of fitness, muscle mass enhancement, financial planning, preparation of caregivers for the elderly, safety of housing for the elderly and social preparation to live after retirement.
