Relationship of team work, work satisfaction, and work retention of professional nurses at non – profit private tertiary level hospitals

Background: Currently, private hospitals are not focusing on profit taking. They are facing problems of resignation of professional nurses. The problem of resignation of professional nurses results in poorly managed care and poor quality of care.
Objectives: The study aimed to analyze the relationship between teamwork, job satisfaction and retention in professional opinion of professional nurses at non-profit tertiary level hospitals.
Methods: A total of 295 subjects were recruited using stratified random sampling from a population of 815. The research instrument was a three-part questionnaire, a job satisfaction questionnaire, a questionnaire on job retention of professional nurses. Data were analyzed and expressed as percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation, and multiple correlation.
Results: The findings of this study revealed that teamwork there was a moderate positive relationship with job retention of professional nurses (r = 0.66, P < 0.001). Regarding teamwork there was a moderate positive relationship with job satisfaction of professional nurses. (r = 0.54, P < 0.001) Job satisfaction was positively correlated with job retention of professional nurses (r = 0.53, P < 0.001).
Conclusion: The findings of this study revealed that teamwork there was a moderately positive relationship with job retention of professional nurses. Considering each side, we found that the goal is mutual with high average score the satisfaction of the compensation with having high average score on satisfaction of the compensation received in the present which is an important factor to stay in the job. The professional nurses also want to improve their compensation and welfare, and job satisfaction were positively correlated. The top rated item is the feeling that is part of the organization.
