Abstract

Scapulocostal  syndrome  is  a  common musculoskeletal  pain  syndrome which  frequently  found  in  posturally compromised, middle-aged patients. The main signs and symptoms of scapulocostal syndrome include scapular pain, referred pain, myofascial trigger point and muscle weakness. However, if this syndrome is not treated effectively, it may lead to chronic sleeplessness and anxiety. Therefore, the physical therapists should be aware of the syndrome and try to find out the effective treatment for the scapulocostal syndrome. At present, there are several ways to treat scapulocostal syndrome e.g. scapular stabilization exercise, Thai massage and hot pack with ultrasound therapy. These treatment methods have different pros and cons. The physical therapist should select the most appropriate intervention for the patients.
