Abstract

The root canal infection from dental caries or trauma without any treatment might create apical periodontitis and diffused infection. In this case, antibiotics are needed for prevention and infection controlled. Nowadays, drug-resistance bacteria are one of the problems as prescribe one antibiotic might affect the etiology of bacteria in a whole body. Therefore, the indication of prescribe each antibiotic must be considered. Furthermore, dental pain is also the chief complaint that patients came to see dentist. Analgesics and anxiolytics drugs are helpful to treat pain and any anxiety for patients. For under systemic diseases patients, the chronic symptom and many drugs taken might affect the health and present illness of the patients, that is necessary for the dentist to evaluate and getting proper treatment plan. This article reviews the principle of antibiotics, analgesics and anti-anxiety usage, the side effect and dose of each drug, and also the management of patient with systemic disease before endodontic treatment.
