Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental research. The objective is to study the effect of self-efficacy promotion program to re-fracture behavior in patients with femoral fractures received internal fixation in Krabi Hospital. The samples were patients are who diagnosed as femoral fracture and received internal fixation in Krabi Hospital aged 18 -59 years old, between 6 December 2016 - December 2017. The samples were chosen by 30 subjects and divided into 2 groups (experimental and control groups). Each group consisted of 15 patients with similar condition by matching qualifications in terms of gender, age, education level and occupation. The experimental group received the perceived self - efficacy promoting program for 4 weeks and the control group received routine nursing care. Tools used in the experiment are program to promote self-efficacy, questionnaire for perceived self-efficacy in preventing re-fracture and questionnaire for preventive fracture behavior in the femoral fracture patients who received internal fixation. Accuracy was checked using statistics Cronbach's alpha has a precision of .83 and .81. Data was analyzed T-test statistics.
The results showed that the average score of preventive fracture behavior in the experiment group are higher than control group with statistical significance at the level of .05. The research implies that the provision of this program is a nursing activity that prevent re-fractures after surgery. Resulting in better self care behavior because of encouraging patients to have more knowledge and confidence in the activities of self-care improval. The researchers suggested that this program should be used in involved nursing activities to increase patient ability in proper self-care behavior.
