The Related Factors of the Request for Career Advancement among Supporting Staff in the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital

This retrospective study aims to examine the factors influencing with the requests for career advancement among 806 support staffs at the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. The descriptive statistics were including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The unpaired t-test was used to analyze data between groups in continuous data sets. Chi-square and Fisher’s tests were used to analyze the related factors. The statistical significance level was at .05.
The study was found that personal factors were significantly associated with applying for career advancement included age, education level, years of experience, nursing position, affiliation, administrative position, and academic position (p<.05). Comparing the differences between those who had applied for career advancement demonstrated higher skills in all parts (p<.05) and lower perceived problems and obstacles in all parts compared to other group (p<.05). These findings suggest that development initiatives and institutional support should be strategically provided to interested groups to increase their likelihood of achieving professional success and advancing in their career advancement.
