Abstract

This study investigates factors influencing cognitive impairment among the elderly in Pathum Thani Province using a cross-sectional analytical study. A total of 774 elderly participants were selected through multi-stage random sampling. Data was collected using a validated questionnaire and analyzed using regression. The results indicate that cognitive impairment is significantly associated with individual factors such as age and gender, with older individuals having a higher risk (p < .05). Family-related factors, including income sufficiency and family structure, also showed significant effects (p<.05). Additionally, knowledge about risk factors and symptoms of cognitive impairment was the most influential variable (p <.001). Emotional and social behavior were also significantly correlated with cognitive impairment (p<.05). The findings suggest that prevention strategies should focus on enhancing knowledge about cognitive impairment, promoting emotional well-being, and providing economic and social support to reduce the risk among the elderly.
