The Development and Effects of Mindfulness-Based Art of Flower Arrangement Therapy Program on Hopelessness and Risk of Suicidal with Major Depressive Disorder

This research and development study aimed to develop a Mindfulness-Based Art of Flower Arrangement Therapy Program for Major depressive disorder and to study the results of the program using quasi-experimental research. The program development method consisted of 5 steps: 1) needs analysis, 2) conceptual framework determination, 3) program design and drafting, 4) quality control, and 5) program trial. The results were compared using a two-group quasi-experimental research design, measuring before and after the experiment. The dependent variables were hopelessness and suicide risk. The sample group consisted of 16 person purposive sampling in each group. The measurement instruments were a hopelessness and a suicide risk, pre-post, and followed up. It was found that both groups had less hopelessness and suicidal risk after 1 and 2 months of treatment, as well as both were significantly reduced in the study group than in the control group at a statistical significance level of .01 Recommendation: Mindfulness-Based Art of flower Arrangement Therapy Program is an important maneuver and should be trained to psychiatric nurses, Out-Patient Department to reduce hopelessness and risk of suicidal attempt in patients with depression illness.Downloads
