Development of a Strengthening Model for Saving and Spending Behavior of the Elderly, Na Wung Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phetchaburi Province

Abstract

 The objectives of this study were 1) to study the strengthening model for saving and spending behavior, 2) to study the guidelines for development of a strengthening model for saving and spending behavior, and 3) organize activities to strengthening model for saving and spending behavior of the elderly. The research samples were 227 people aged 60 years and over whose registered in the population registry in Na Wung subdistrict, Mueang district, Phetchaburi province, use stratified random sampling, and the key informants include: 9 elderly in Na Wung subdistrict, use purposive sampling. The data were collected using a question naire, a structured in-depth interview, and an Individual Behavioral Assessment. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.
The research results were as follows: 1) the strengthening model for saving and spending behavior of the elderly were at a high level both in overall and in each aspect, 2) guidelines for development of a strengthening model for saving and spending behavior found that: the elderly have behaviors of divide of dividing money, keeping income-expense accounts, save money by depositing in the bank, grow vegetables for cooking, additional jobs by growing vegetables for sale, and raising animals, and 3) the activity to promote saving and spending behavior was the activity of “making fabric softener”. The elderly participated in the exercise with good behavior and expressed the highest level of satisfaction.
