This cross-sectional analytical study aimed to examine the behavior and factors predicting car seat use behavior among parents of preschool children in Bangkok. The study sample consisted of 387 parents of preschool children aged 3 - 6 years in Bangkok, selected through multistage sampling. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed as the research instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression analysis.
The results showed that the overall behavior of parents in Bangkok regarding car seat use was at a high level ( = 19.28 , SD = 4.791). Factors that predicted this behavior included social support from the family, self-efficacy in using car seats, perceived benefits of using child car seats, car travel, and social support from healthcare personnel. These factors could jointly predict child car seat use behavior among parents of preschool children in Bangkok with statistical significance (p<.05), accounting for 53.3% of the variance (R² adj = .533, F = 89.020). It is recommended to develop a program aimed at promoting parental behavior by enhancing the five predictive factors through processes and strategies that align with the context of parents. This approach will effectively prevent and reduce the rate of child injuries from accidents.
