This research aims to study the effect of a health education program on preventing risky sexual behaviors among lower secondary school students at a selected school. The study employed a quasiexperimental research design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 lower secondary school students, selected through multistage random sampling. The research instruments included a health education program for preventing risky sexual behaviors and a questionnaire. Statistical analyses used in the study included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and comparative analysis of the average scores on knowledge, experiences related to sexual behaviors, and attitudes toward adolescent sexual relations. The results showed that after participating in the program, the sample group had significantly higher mean scores in knowledge of sexual risk prevention, positive attitudes toward avoiding premature sexual intercourse, self-efficacy perception, decision-making skills, refusal skills, and prevention of risky sexual behaviors compared to before the program (p < .05) in all variables. Based on these findings, the developed program can be further utilized to enhance self-efficacy perception, decision-making skills, refusal skills, and sexual risk prevention among lower secondary school students in the target area.
