The descriptive correlational research aimed to study the relationship between factors related to self-care behaviors of individuals with recurrent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection and their family members. The sample consisted of 163 families of individuals with recurrent COVID-19 infection and their family members. The research tools included two sets of questionnaires: 1) for individuals with recurrent COVID-19 infection, with a content validity index of 0.84 and a reliability coefficient of 0.93; and 2) for family members of individuals with recurrent COVID-19 infection, with a content validity index of 0.86 and a reliability coefficient of 0.91. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlational analysis.
The study results revealed that: 1) Factors related to self-care behaviors of individuals with COVID-19 reinfection included knowledge about COVID-19 (r = 0.17, P = 0.03), health belief factors (r = 0.55, P = 0.00), and cues to action (r = 0.49, P = 0.00). 2) Factors related to self-care behaviors of family members of individuals with COVID-19 reinfection included history of vaccination against COVID-19 (= 0.21, P = 0.01), knowledge about COVID-19 (r = 0.26, P = 0.00), health belief factors (r = 0.50, P = 0.00), and cues to action (r = 0.56, P = 0.00).
